Wildness

55m Nature, The Arts, Environmental, Biography, Documentary 2002

The epic story of two wilderness photographers whose passion for nature became a crusade to save an environment under threat.

Olegas Truchanas and Peter Dombrovskis were two of Australia’s greatest wilderness photographers. Both came from Baltic Europe, and they shared a bond like that of father and son. They migrated to Tasmania where their passion for nature became a crusade to save an environment under threat. Their philosophy was simple and remarkably effective – if people could see the beauty of Australia’s wild places, they might be moved to save them. Both died in the wilderness, doing what they loved, and left a legacy of extraordinary images.
