A Steam Train Passes

21m Short, Documentary, Transport 1971

A famous steam locomotive takes a nostalgic journey into its own past.

Take a nostalgic trip through the countryside with a C38 class steam locomotive. The 3801 has been lovingly restored at the State Dockyard in Newcastle and is filmed on one of its final journeys from Sydney to a series of country railway stations. A STEAM TRAIN PASSES is generally regarded as Australia’s finest railway film and is imaginatively shot by Oscar-winning cinematographer Dean Semler (DANCES WITH WOLVES).
